“A woman is like a tea bag: you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.”

~ Irish Proverb

Society Bakery opened its doors 2003 in Dallas, Texas by native Texan, Roshi Muns. Society was propelled into national recognition when Ellen DeGeneres and AOL named them one of the Top Ten Cupcakes in America. Since then, People magazine listed Society as one of “Four top bakeries in L.A., Dallas, Birmingham, and N.Y.C.”. Shecky’s listed Society Bakery as one of “10 Bakeries You Need to Try Across the U.S.”. The Daily Meal listed Society Bakery in the “Top 50 Cupcakes in America”. Society Bakery has been seen on Food Network, Cooking Channel, and in Bon Appetit Magazine.

In 2019 the idea of Afternoon Tea Parties started percolating in Roshi’s mind. She knew exactly what foods she wanted to serve, but was missing the tea piece. Around that same time, long time customer turned friend, Emily, had just completed the training for Certified Tea Specialist through the World Tea Academy. Roshi heard about it through friends; after a quick phone call, a meeting was set, and the idea of SocieTEA was born.

We both bring to the table a specialty. Roshi and Society have developed outstanding recipes that stand on their own. Emily pairs those delectable dishes with teas that hope to highlight the food and bring out flavors that speak to the customer.

Ideally, Roshi and Emily would like to serve you a coursed afternoon tea that you can enjoy with a group of friends or family, for a graduation, for a birthday party, for a baby shower, for a bridal shower…or just because you want a gorgeous setting for one of Society’s petit fours. As for right now, however, we are carefully packaging all of these things to go so that you can enjoy it in the comfort and safety of your own home.

For the first course, we provide everything you need to make finger sandwiches.

For the second course, we provide scones for you to bake at home. These homemade scones have been created just for you. Our hope is that the smell of the scones baking will set the tone for a cozy tea experience. The scones are also at their best when fresh baked. Our homemade clotted cream and jam will help to round out the scone course.

For the final course, the customer is in for an amazing treat. A miniature assortment of chocolate chip cookies, vanilla petit fours, and a special recipe – Queen’s biscuit cake – make for a delightful finish. Queen’s biscuit cake was part of Prince William’s groom cake and it is something that Queen Elizabeth II enjoys with tea every day. Customers can even rent the tiered stand to give their tea a more polished look and feel. You deserve to treat yourself just as Queen Elizabeth does, so join SocieTEA for an afternoon tea that is sure to be a delight!
